Stiff tulle is great material for crinolines and frills. It stubbornly holds its shape, forming full, sturdy folds that seem to defy gravity. A multi-layered crinoline will support full skirts of the heaviest silk (such as duchesse). It also adds volume under bridal gowns and skirts made of softer tulle fabrics.
Crinoline seams can be quite scratchy; a slip made of a medium weight lining such as habotai or silk modal blend can do the trick.
Care
Hand wash at 30°C or machine wash on the delicate program to avoid tearing. Do not squeeze or wring dry. Do not machine dry. Hang or lay flat to dry. Do not iron; wrinkles will fall out when hung.
Generally, pre-shrinking is needed for linen, cotton, and rayon, but for finer fabrics (light rayon, Tencel and modal) proceed with care – don't use hot water or a hot iron, simply launder the fabric the way you will be laundering the completed garment.
